Spencer Lacrosse Club runs one of the most comprehensive junior programmes in the region which includes:
- Scoopers Lacrosse – Summer time programmes for 5/6/7 yrs boys and girls having fun and starting out on the basic skills
- Pop Lacrosse – Our outreach non-contact Primary School Programme introducing all the basic skills in curriculum PE sessions often supported with a before school or after school club. Is your school in our Programme?
- PinBall Lacrosse – non-contact Lacrosse for younger players ready for the step up from Scoopers. Usually the first stop for Pop Lacrosse players looking to 'try out' the real thing.
- Field Lacrosse – The Field Lacrosse group has u12, u14 and u16 divisions and is generally open to both boys and girls playing men's rules Lacrosse.
Note – The ELA caps the participation of girls playing 'men's' rules to Under 14. Though we don't run a 'girls only' programme yet, with Clapham Ladies starting to play at Spencer we have high hopes of starting such a programme in the near future.
2017/18 Autumn & Spring Programme
PinBall Lacrosse – Regular training takes place at Spencer every Sunday morning from 9.15 to 10.30am starting on 10th September and continuing until the Easter Holidays (with breaks for Christmas and the school half-term holidays).
Field Lacrosse – Regular u12 and u14/u16 Sessions are held every Sunday - generally from 10.30am to 12.30pm. These sessions are a mix of practices, games and tournaments. Tournaments often involve travel around the UK and abroad.
DETAILS of the PinBall and Field Lacrosse Spring Programmes are available here and we look forward to seeing you on a Sunday morning at Spencer.
If coming to your first session please contact our Head Coach, Peter Compton, beforehand to ensure appropriate equipment is available.
Coaching Team 2017/18
The club head coach is Peter Compton. He coordinates the junior programme and has been involved with lacrosse since time began.
Peter is assisted by a number of the senior Spencer players, many of whom have international honours representing their country at European and World level.
New Players Welcome
As always, juniors players new to the club or new to Lacrosse are very welcome. Parents please call or email our junior coordinator, Peter Compton so he can give you all the information you need. Pete’s contact details are on our Contacts page.
Junior Equipment – Club Policy
For most events players will generally need to wear sports clothing. As with the seniors, most games are played on grass with the occasional game on artificial pitches. Remember to pack spare dry clothing for away games if playing conditions are wet and muddy.
The specific lacrosse equipment of stick, helmet, gloves and padding is provided on a ‘loan’ basis, payable at the start of the season. The club provided playing shirts for games.
Spencer Lacrosse Club adopts English Lacrosse's Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Lacrosse Policy, Procedures and Guidance to ensure all those in the lacrosse community have a safe and positive experience.
