These match reports are starting to get tricky to write. We’re playing OK lacrosse but can’t find the route to victory.
This week the difference was the Reading American goalie who stopped everything, even the deflected shots and good quality efforts heading for the corners. Our meagre two goals came from Jason Byrne in the first half with a solo dodge and shoot effort and long-stick Alan Keeley in the second half with some weird looking backhanded affair.
The halftime score was 4-1 to Reading – we just need to score some goals to win this thing!
At the back we played well, demonstrated by the overall low scoreline. We had played Reading pre-season and won 6-4 so we knew the game would be close and probably low scoring. Mike Goodman stood out with some super physical play and Reading will have some bruises to nurse this week.
