A brief introduction to our 2013/14 Junior Programme, grade by grade, with start dates. A ‘fridge friendly’ version of our full schedule of practice sessions, games and tournaments will be posted as soon as it’s available – expected towards the end of August.
Please be aware that we won’t be running any sessions on Sunday 8th September – our men’s first team was very successful last season and will be representing England in the European Club Championship in Ghent that weekend – and all the coaches will be involved in one way or another.
Membership/permission forms can be found in ‘about us‘, downloaded (please select the relevant one) and brought along to the first session – spare ‘hard copies’ will be available at sessions.
POP LACROSSE – for those new to the game and/or still developing in confidence – generally ‘Under 12’
Regular Sunday morning sessions from 10.00 – 11.30am will be held on grass at Spencer starting on Sunday 22nd September. Our programme will run from September until the end of March with breaks for the ‘half-terms’ and Christmas. Initially players are asked to sign up for the Autumn Term. Equipment will be provided.
FIELD LACROSSE (men’s rules) – U12 GROUP –* for players who already enjoy ‘field’ rules and Pop Lacrossers ready to ‘move on’.*
Our first two ‘sign up’ sessions will be held on grass at Spencer on Sunday 1st & 15th September from 9.30 – 11.30am and regular Sunday morning sessions will follow. Mid-week sessions will change for the coming season – they will be held on the Astro of Fridays from evenings from 6.30 – 8.00pm. These sessions start on Friday 13th September.
Players able to attend Sunday and Friday sessions and who do not have their own equipment , will be able to look after and be responsible for their own ‘grey bag’ of equipment.
In addition to our ‘normal’ adventures, we will start of the next cycle in our exchange programme with Talbot Lacrosse from Easton, Maryland, USA. As currently programmed, the Americans will come to London in early July 2014. Our group will travel to the USA at Easter 2015. This will be our fifth exchange with Talbot Lacrosse which many UK players have used as a springboard to Regional, England u19 and full England representative selection.
Most of our ‘normal’ adventures are pretty good fun but the American exchange event, in addition to the improvement in standard of play, takes the experience to a completely different level. As an expansion of opportunity and downright fun, I can’t recommend the event enough. If you know one of the players from a previous trip – just ask! You will be sent initial information and then invited to a meeting towards the end of September to talk through plans and answer questions.
FIELD LACROSSE (men’s rules) – U15 GROUP
The first ‘sign up’ session will be held on the field at Spencer on Sunday 15th September from 9.30 – 11.30am and regular Sunday morning sessions will follow. Mid-week sessions will change for the coming season – they will be held on the Astro of Fridays from evenings from 6.30 – 8.00pm. These sessions start on Friday 13th September.
FIELD LACROSSE (men’s rules) – u18 Players
Players in this group merge with our senior programme – games are played on Saturday afternoons and practice sessions take place on the Astro on Monday evenings from 7.30 – 9.00pm. There will be ‘age group’ events, generally on Sundays, dotted through the season
